Today, ELECTRON aerospace took a significant step towards the future of sustainable aviation. We had the honour of attending the World Economic Forum’s inaugural Aviation Day held at the picturesque Villa Mundi in Geneva, Switzerland. This event marked a pivotal moment for us, as we were invited to become founding members of this groundbreaking initiative.

Our very own Marc-Henry de Jong, CCO/COO and Co-Founder of ELECTRON aerospace, represented our team with great pride. The event provided an unparalleled platform for dialogue with both established players and innovative startups in the aviation industry. The central theme? Exploring diverse pathways to achieve the NetZero targets that are crucial for our planet’s future.

The discussions were rich and varied, covering a wide range of solutions from Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), hydrogen, to battery technology — all with the shared goal of decarbonising aviation. It was inspiring to engage with industry pioneers such as Jeffrey Engler from Wright Electric, Kevin Noertker from Ampaire, and Tom Plümmer from WINGCOPTER. Special mention must be made of Sebnem Erzan and her team at Google for their revolutionary work in contrail prevention, a critical step towards minimising aviation’s environmental impact.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Richard Forrest and Claudia Galea from Kearney, alongside Maria J. Alonso Gonzalez from the World Economic Forum, for their invaluable support and partnership. Their contributions were instrumental in making this event a success.

This event was not just another meeting; it was a reaffirmation of ELECTRON aerospace’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in sustainable aviation. The insights and connections gained have only deepened our resolve to drive innovation and work collaboratively towards a greener future for aviation.

The question remains: was the carbon footprint of this journey justified? We believe that the answer is a resounding yes. The conversations sparked and the collaborations formed are vital steps towards our collective goal of a sustainable aviation industry. Together, we are on a journey to not only imagine but also realise a future where aviation contributes positively to our world.

Let’s continue to soar towards that greener future, united in our efforts and innovative spirit.
